Where will the programme take place?
The programme is delivered on a collaborative basis between Coláiste na Rinne and the local secondary school Meánscoil san Nioclás, in the Waterford Gaeltacht.
Visiting students will board at Coláiste na Rinne which will provide accommodation, meals and after-school activities. They will be registered as students of Meánscoil San Nioclás and will attend the TY programme there with local TY students.

What is the weekly programme?
Students will follow the standard TY programme with numerous extra-curricular activities.
Students will be required to be on campus by 6pm on Sunday of each week and to be off-campus by 4pm on Friday.
Academic Tuition : Monday to Friday 9.00 am – 3.30 pm. Academic class room tuition will take place through the medium of the Irish Language.
4 weeks of work placement off campus will form an essential component of the course. On-campus accommodation is not provided during the work experience periods.

Who is the Transition Year suitable for?
The opportunity to spend Transition Year in the Gaeltacht is unique opportunity and is ideal for students interested in the Irish Language and Irish Culture. The course is particularly suited for students wishing to pursue a career in education and other related fields or other Irish Language related choices such as media, law and journalism.
Is weekend transport arranged for the students to return home on Friday and back to the campus on Sunday?
Transport is available every weekend to those who wish to avail of it. An optional transport fee of €1,200 per term will apply.
How many places are available on the TY Programme?
The number of places vary from year to year but there are typically around 20 places for visiting students. The places are limited as the visiting students are hosted by the local secondary school, In order to maintain an appropriate balance in the school community, between visiting students and local students, the numbers of visiting students are determined by the number of local students, coupled with the resources available at the host school in any given year.
What is the application process for 2024.2025?
Interested families are invited to complete an application form, available at eolas@anrinn.com. Suitable applicants will be invited to attend for interview.
What are the programme fees ?
he fee for the 2023/24 full Transition Year course is €12,000, inclusive of after school activities and excursions, meals, and accommodation on campus (Sunday night to Friday morning).
Successful applicants can secure their places by paying a deposit of €2,000 before the end of April prior to the academic year in question (50% refundable if cancelled). Thereafter, half of the balance of the course fees (€6,000) will be due before September and the second half will be due in December.
A fee of €800 is payable directly to Meánscoil San Nioclás.
